Laying of the foundation stone for the Butane plant and completion of the erection of Ethylene Plant’s twin towers at YANSAB

Abdul Rahman bin Saleh Al-Faqih, President of Yanbu National Petrochemicals (YANSAB) laid the foundation stone of the butane plant at the company's complex in Yanbu industrial city on April 15, 2007, in the presence of project manager and officials of the Canadian project prime contractor, Shaw Stone Webster company. This is the last plant within YANSAB complex and is expected to go on stream mid-2008.



On the other hand, C2 tower has arrived on-site on April 16, 2007 and will be erected at the Ethylene plant to be followed by C3 tower in two days thereafter.



The height of the first tower is 88.3 meters. It is 7.1 meters in diameter, and weighs 1133 tons. It will be used for the separation of ethylene and ethane, while the height of the other tower is 86.9 meters long, 7.8 meters in diameter and weighs 885 tons. It will be used to separate the polypropylene and propane.



The twin towers were manufactured by the Korean (Sin Jin). The Italian Technip supervised the delivery and transportation from the seaport to the company’s job site according to schedule. Already a transport crane, with a capacity of nearly three thousand tons, has been mobilized for installation ample time prior to end of April, 2007. It is also expected to complete all other works in ethylene plant on the 10th of April, 2008.
